Legal Question in Family Law in California

I moved into my husband's home before we were married, and now on th verge of divorce, do I have any legal rights to stay in the house? He said that he was going to place all my belongings outside if I don't leave and that he has the legal right to do that. We reside in CA. Thank you!

He cannot kick you out without a court order. If he tries, call police. Having said that, your safety comes before your rights.

Your question suggests that there is an evolving issue of domestic abuse. The kind of verbal intimidation and threats to discard your belongings by putting them out on the street may justify restraining orders on your husbands conduct while you continue to cohabit in the house.

You really need to meet with an attorney skilled in California family law to explore all your legal rights and remedies. Waiting may only make things worse.
