moving out of country with teenager
We are moving out of the country for my spouse's job and our 15 year old (that we share custody of) also wants to go. Will the courts let him have a say? We live inCA and he is 15.

I recently taught a seminar in the El Cajon court house on the subject of moving away with a minor child. I can tell you that no one can give you a definitive answer. If he wants to go with you the court will give considerable weight to his desires. You should file a motion as soon as possible as these matters can take months to resolve. Yes, but that's just a factor. The court is always guided in its decision by the "best interests of the child." The determine that, the court looks at all the facts and circumstances, including the feelings of the child. If he's 15, wants to stay in CA and the other parent wants and is appropriate to have custody, I think most likely the child will.
