Legal Question in Family Law in California

Moving to another county

I am a mother of a 8 yr old child. Father shares legal custody but I have physical custody. I need to move to another county. This move will be about 20 minute more away from father. He has visitation 3 weekends a month and alternate holidays. Our order says neither of us can move the child from CA but places no restriction on intrastate moves. Can I move with my child? Do I need to notify him and if so how much advance notice do I need to give him. I don't have money to consult with a lawyer so any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Moving to another county

Although the order does not forbid moving within the state of California, your best approach is to contact him and come to an agreement regarding the new visitation schedule. You may be able to get the matter settled by offering some additional visitation time on the long weekends.
