Legal Question in Family Law in California

Moving jurisdication to another county

I got a divorce in Santa Clara County. Three years ago I moved with my two youngest

children to El Dorado. My ex-husband has continued over these last three years to initiate court action, in which I have to take time off of work and travel to Santa Clara County. I recently received an Order to Show Cause requesting Mediation, initiated by my ex-husband, stating I have to appear on July 11, 2000. Every time we have gone to mediation, I have come out ahead. I don't think he realizes this. The problem is the time I have to take off work and distance I have to travel. I would like to have my case transferred to El Dorado County. I think he would probably stop initiating court action if he had to take an entire day off work and travel the distance. How do I go about doing this? Is it probable? I have never hired an attorney, I have always represented myself. Is this something I could do alone?

Re: Moving jurisdication to another county

When you are the one to move the courts usually make you be the one who has to have the burden of travel to court. It is not likely the court would change venue.
