Hello Ms. Van Haren,

You answered my question on what county to file a petition for guardianship of my granddaughter. Thank you!

After filing a police report of abuse, DCFS removed 3 children from mom's home and put them with family. DCFS is giving her the kids back on Tuesday. She will have to do a few things first (I'm guessing that she must get them beds to sleep in). But they will go home and will be monitored by DCFS. Can I file after my granddaughter returns home to her mom? There is still a police investigation to be done. Many thanks!

You may file either before or after the children have been returned to their mother.
