Legal Question in Family Law in California

My nephew has lived with me for 2 1/2 years. His mother is absent most of the time. I want to apply for guardianship but I don't have an address to serve papers to her. Can I still get guardianship?

Yes. You have to make a diligent search to locate her and if she can't be located, you can serve her by publication in a newspaper.
