Legal Question in Family Law in California

Non proof of service

Hi there,

I filed for divorce in Sept, it was to be final on 03/27/07. I just checked online and it says there's a hearing Re: Non proof of service of dissolution... what does that mean? are we not divorced?? we had a friendly divorce, and have no kids.

Re: Non proof of service

It sounds like you have not filed a proof of service on the summons and petition. You cannot just file a petition and then it becomes final. There are a number of other forms that need tobe filed. You may want to ask the facilitator's office to help you or seek and attorney to process the papers. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
