Legal Question in Family Law in California

i'm the noncustodial parent. the mother moved 180 miles away before my daughter was born. i tried going to court to no avail, until finally i got visits after four years. i drive 700+ miles every weekend to see her. i'll be having surgery march 1st and won't be able to drive. the mother had her license suspended due to driving knowing she has seizures. in california can a judge order the custodial parent to meet halfway for drop off and pick up, even if custodial parent has no license?

On occasions you can certainly ask that the travel burden be shared equally by the parties, or you can share pickups and drop offs each one doing one. Or a mutually convenient location be selected. So to answer your question, yes there are many solutions to the pickup/dropoff issue. You should take this issue up soon with the court so that you don't go too long without seeing your child regularly.

For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.

As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
