Legal Question in Family Law in California

My Ex, who is the non-custodial parent, wants our 10 y/o daughter to spend the weekend with him. He hasn't seen her in four years. She's apprehensive about going and doesn't want to hurt his feelings by saying 'No' or telling me her true feelings. I suggested, to her, a day visit, with or without me, as an option. This is just to get re-acquainted with him. I personally don't agree to the weekend visit, but don't want to come across as not allowing him to spend time with her (after 4 years). Please advise.
