Legal Question in Family Law in California

How to obtain a Divorce Decree

I have been in court several times at ex-party hearings and restraining order hearings with my ex-husband to be. We have received judgements for child support and child custody. We have filed for legal separation through a paralegal and have divided assets (we don't own anything together). At this point, it has been three years now, and my ex-to-be will not sign the paperwork for the divorce at the paralegals office. How can I get the divorce finalized and my name changed back to maiden name at this point - without paralegal or attorney? I have no money left for legal fees.

Most courts have a family law clinic to provide free legal advice to individuals. The attorney will be able to review documents and obtain additional information from you. Then they can tell you what is required to complete the divorce. If he simply will not sign any documents then you may have to set your case for trial.
