Legal Question in Family Law in California

I was ordered by the courts, one year ago, to pay my ex-wifes attorney fees. It was added, by her attorney, to a stipulation that was ordered on the day of our devorce. I did sign the stipulation, paying more attention to the custody information than anything else, and had missed the part where I am responsible for his fees. Is there any way to fight this in the courts? Why would I pay for my ex-wife to attempt to take our son from me?

It is a court order. It is too late to do anything about it, other than to try and negotiate a reduction with that attorney.

Please be sure to address payment of this court order as soon as you can to avoid the possibility of a return to court on a contempt motion for your failure to pay.

You might be able to have that portion set aside as a clerical error, but your time is limited and your attorneys fees to have it set aside may be more than what was ordered. Good Luck, Pat McCrary

Why would you sign a legal document without reading it?
