I was ordered to pay 20,000 to opposing council for them to hire a forensic accountant. How can I get out of doing that?

Your opportunity to get out of that was when you made the mistake of doing whatever the court decided you did wrong, most likely trying to hide assets, that entitles the other side to have their forensic accountant paid for by you.

Mr. McCormick's answer is not entirely correct. I forensic accountant is generally hired to appraise a business or as a neutral third party to review business and/or financial records. No wrongdoing is required. Without a more complete explanation of why is was ordered it is difficult to give advice. You must file a motion to reconsider or appeal the order if you feel that the order is improper. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
