Legal Question in Family Law in California

Is Orthodontics part of Medical ?

Hello,

I pay about $1200 in support for my three kids each month because my ex chooses not to work. She can do this because she inherited huge amounts of money, and so she also lives much better than me.

My kids have health through my work. But my health plan only pays the first $500 for braces to fix their teeth. Are braces considered ''Medical expenses'' of which I'm required to pay half, or are they elective cosmetic surgery and therefore not something I have to help pay for?

Kevin

Re: Is Orthodontics part of Medical ?

Generally orthodontics would be considered reasonable medical or dental treatment.
