Legal Question in Family Law in California

An outstanding loan is paid to ex-husband after divorce

During the marriage we gave a relative a loan in the amount of $2000.00. This was not assigned to either one of us in the final property settlement papers, however I remember my husbands attorney saying that since it was my family this amount should be deducted from my share of the assets. Recently I have learned that about 10 years ago this loan was repaid to my ex husband. (Of course he didn't tell me)What recourse do I have, if any, to recover this money and at what interest rate.

You could probably get an offset for the $2,000, but unless the court ordered him to pay your attorney fees it would cost more than you the $2,000 get the order for him to pay you. You could negotiate a settlement with him that may reult in more money in your pocket.
