Overseas Service of Divorce Papers

My husband and I were married in India in 1979. We are both US Citizens, and he has dual citizenship for India. He left the US in March 2008 to go back to India and I filed for divorce in June of 2008 in the US. I need to serve him with divorce papers, but I don't know how I can make sure that the service of papers in India is valid by US standards. Can you please let me know what I need to do in order to properly serve him the papers?
