Legal Question in Family Law in California

overturning judgements

Can a judgement be overturned just because one of the parties is unhappy with the judgement in question? A child custody judgement has been filed and the father wishes to have the judgement changes in his favor.

Re: overturning judgements

What he wants to do is not exactly "overturning a judgment". The court retains jurisdiction over custody, visitation and child support until the child(ren) is/are 18 (or longer if still in high school). The father has filed a Motion (Order to Show Cause) to modify the current custody order; and, yes, he can do this. You can do the same, in the future, if changes in circumstances warrant it.
