Legal Question in Family Law in California

Ownership of ring

A 64 year old man lurred me to CA he misrepresented himself did not disclose that he was:alcoholic bi-polar his age,# children (he legally disowned 3 of his 4 girls) and financial status. He gave me money in the form of a cashiers check made out to my credit card account which was deposited into my sole account. We bought a ring using ''my credit card'' with the balance of money that he had given me.To avoid paying tax on the ring, it was sent to my mother in Florida upon his request.I kept my Florida residency. After 3 mo. of lies I asked to go home so I could think. He threw me out of the home on a Sunday evening w/cat in dog in an unfamiliar town. He now claims that the ring was an engagement ring. The man is threating me & saying I stole it.What can I do to protect my self? This man verbally promised me & my parents that he would help me out financially if the relationship did not work out since he was the cause of me being unemployed for 3 mo. so that I could be with him.He has devestated me & continues to harrass me w/his lies & threatening me with legal action based on his lies.He was a Lawyer in NJ 20 years ago & is threatening me w/all kinds of leagal actions. I am frightened. Please Advise !!!!

Re: Ownership of ring

Keep ring, go home, block phone and e-mail from him, notify him you'll report the incident to your local state attorney if he persists (since the man probably has a history of such incidents), and pray. He has no legal basis for threats.
