Legal Question in Family Law in California

Paid Child Support

I have a friend that has paid his child support for 16 years. They garnished his wages $1,000.00 per month. He received a letter from the county saying he owes 160K back dues. What steps does he take to prove he has paid all the support? He lives in Texas and isn't sure what to do.

Re: Paid Child Support

Your friend needs to speak with an attorney. He will need to have a copy of the original order for support and any information relating to the CSSD which is handling the case.

I have been dealing with enforcement of support issues for over 16 years. My name is Patricia Lang and my firm is LAWYERS FOR FAMILY SUPPORT.

I will be happy to speak with your friend at any time. My email address is [email protected]

Re: Paid Child Support

It would seem that it would be worth retaining an attorney to deal with California DCSS on this issue rather than let them continue to allege non-payment and eventually garnish bank accounts and levy wages with an employer in Texas (which they can do) on a debt that has long been satisfied. He should gather all bank records, receipts, money order receipts etc... to prove prior payments and then hire a California attorney to represent him before DCSS.
