Legal Question in Family Law in California

Having Parental Rights Terminated

Would it be possible to have my parenal rights terminated and what are the chances that it would happen? I have a child in CA and the mother won't let me see him. She had all rights (visitation) taken away and promises me if I take her to court, it will be messey and long. I currently do not live in CA so it would be very hard for me to fight for custody/visitation anyway. I feel because I've never met the child and the mother is the way she is, that it's in the best intrest of the child for me not to interfear in his life to avoid confusion. How likely is it that my rights could be terminated? Thanks!

Re: Having Parental Rights Terminated

Terminating your parental rights does not terminate your responsibilities, such as to pay support. Sit down with a Family law attorney to discuss your situation and what you should do. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
