i have a custody case in two days. the mother decided to have surgery instead and is filing ''ex parte'' what does that mean?

EX-PARTE IS A HEARING ON SHORT NOTICE DUE TO AN EMERGENCY. I ASSUME SHE IS WANTING TO CONTINUE THE CUSTODY HEARING DUE TO THE SURGERY. IF THERE ARE SERIOUS ISSUES OF CUSTODY YOU SHOULD HAVE REPRESENTATION, YOUR KID(S) ARE WORTH IT. GOOD LUCK, PAT MCCRARY
