Legal Question in Family Law in California

Past due Child support

Where can I find/research information/case law for relief from my child support debt that I have now paid more than double the original amount ordered and am still paying after more than 20 years? (My son is now 29 and my ex-wife received welfare for only a couple of months when he was a young child.)

Re: Past due Child support

If you have already paid double then there is a problem. I would demand an hearing to show cause for an accounting. Call me directly at 16192223504.

Re: Past due Child support

Past due child support is not dischargeable and is enforceable until paid in full. In addition, the past due amounts accrue interest at 10% per annum, which is also not dischargeable. You might be able to negotiate a lump sum settlement for a release of all child support owed to the Mother. You should have an attorney for the settlement to be valid. I would be happy to help you.
