Legal Question in Family Law in California
paternity
my husband was informed by a one night stand back in 1993 he was the dad of her son. we have hired a pi & found out she was living with someone from 1988 to 1996. this man is on the birthcertificate & raised him & wanted custody of him in 1996. he found out in 2000 that he was not the biological father & stopeed paying child support. she then found my husband by fluke. my husband had no idea about this child & now the da is involved for child support. my husband doesn't know if he could be the dad-if the test proves positive does he have any rights. should't the man that raised this kid as his own be responsible. thanks--name removed--

Re: paternity
The man on the birth certificate may be the presumed father and may be determined by the court to be the legal father of the child even though he is not the biological father. Do not take blood test or agree to take blood tests until you have spoken with an attorney. You will need and attorney on this matter. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
