Legal Question in Family Law in California

I'm in paternity/custody dispute with my child's father. We both have attorneys and I was wondering if I could get in trouble if I contacted him to talk outside of court?

Mother can talk to father at any time about any subject. Courts generally encourage the parents to discuss custody and visitation matters. You should be cautious about making agreements with him, before consulting with your attorney. The first step would be to discuss this with your attorney and get some guide lines for the discussion. It would be to your advantage to have the court award you sole physical custody.
