Legal Question in Family Law in California

I pay my x wife spousal support monthly. She recently called me and asked me pay her a lump dum, in return she will sign papers that she ends the support. Can I ccept this? I mean, is it legal?

It depends on the terms of your judgment. Sometimes judgments are written up to make spousal support non-modifiable. If your judgment allows for modification of support, then yes this is perfectly legal. You just need to make sure to document it properly, including getting a stipulated modification of the judgment signed by the court.
