Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am paying child support in "arrears" for my 25yr old son who was on public assistance while he was living with my parents. Why doesn't his father have to pay any of the "arrears"?

Because support obligations are ordered and any arrears that accumulation them are charged against each parent separately. So any support and any arrears that the father may owe is no more related to your obligation than if you got a speeding ticket and then an hour later he borrowed the car and got a ticket for running a red light.
