Legal Question in Family Law in California

Pending Divorce and Inheritance

I am getting a divorce from my husband of 27 years. If my elderly father should pass away before our divorce is final, will he be entitled to anything that I might inherit?

In a general sense, inheritance starts out as separate property, and can become community property only under certain circumstances.

For a specific opinion regarding your individual circumstances, I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
