Legal Question in Family Law in California
Personal Property
If the wife leaves and doesn't take personal property ie. furniture, how long am I obligated to store it for her? I've told her many times over the past 6 months to come get it. She just says I can't get rid of it and I am being held responsible for it. Divorce is not final yet.
I need the storage shed for other purposes and want to get rid of her furniture, she packed clothes etc and took with her saying she would be back for the rest as soon as she got a place. She's had a place for 5 months now. Am I legally bound to store her stuff? Can I charge her a storage fee?

Re: Personal Property
You need to go to court and get an order that she remove the property within a specified time. If she fails to remove the property that you can dispose of it.
