Legal Question in Family Law in California

Phantom Divorce Document

Divorce decree was not posted in last county where spouse was living (verified). Do not know which county (if any) that decree was posted. What steps do I take to either find if a decree was filed or file one now (1984 was last year of contact with the other party).

Re: Phantom Divorce Document

The only county in which the decree would have been recorded would be the county in which it was rendered, unless someone took a certified copy and asked that it be recorded in another county. The only way to know if it was recorded in another county is to check with the Superior Court clerk's records in the county in which you are interested.
