Legal Question in Family Law in California
pick up & dropping off
In my divorce from my ex-wife we made visitation rights for me like every other weekend. In that visitation it has specific times to pick up and drop off the child. Like 500 pm on friday to 500pm sunday would be my time. Now I live out of state and its 3 1/2 hours one way. Nevada has a law that says the recieving parent has responcibilities to pick the child up. What is the law in California? dosen't both parents have to contibute to the effort? such as meeting half way, or driving the child to drop off or pick the child up. My ex says it lies with me because I have the right to visit and she dosn't have to do anything.

Re: pick up & dropping off
California has no requirement that the receiving parent is liable for transportation expenses. In California, the cour reviews the circumstances and determines what would be equitable for the parties. Normally the custodial parent may be liable for travel expenses only if the custodial parent moves out of the area of the family home.
You should discuss your circumstances with an attorney.
