Legal Question in Family Law in California
I am planning on a divorce if I leave the house voluntarily will that be detrimental to me being awarded any alimony if considered. Should I contact the police and have them there? My wife has already moved my belongings out of the house into the garage, the house is in her name but I have lived there since being married 3.5 years. Do I have the right to still go there on my own? If I need to stay there till I find some other means of living can I do so? I have been out of state working for four
months, the contract is expired and I am out of work again.

Typically moving out of the house will not impact alimony. You have a right to live there as well as your wife, but in a divorce situation one person should leave since it is almost impossible to go through a divorce and live in the same house together. You should rent an apartment if you need somewhere to stay temporarily.
You should contact the local family law facilitator self help center to get advice on your questions or contact a local attorney for a consultation.
Please contact an attorney in your area prior to taking any legal action.
Good luck,
