Legal Question in Family Law in California

potential custody battle

I'm a single mother of a newborn child. While i was pregnant the father claimed that he wanted no part of the child's upbringing. However, now he wants 50% custody. I don't want to give him that much custody. Is there anything I can do?

Re: potential custody battle

If paternity has not been established by a court, he has no visitation rights at all.

It is very doubtful that he will have 50% custody for many years, if ever. Sounds like he's worried about paying child support.

Hire an attorney, or go to the DA. Get some child support going.
