Legal Question in Family Law in California
I am pregnant as a result of a casual sexual relationship with a man I've known for 6 months. Sexually involved for 1 month. He is currently not speaking to me. I divorced and have 2 children from my marriage. I work as a waitress and we live modestly in an apartment. I have always felt to be pro-life however this situation is causing me great fear for the future. The father of my unborn baby is a homeowner and firefighter. He has a 2 year old son, he told me it was the result of a brief dating relationship and that he wasn't involved with the mother in a current relationship only with his child. In the world of Facebook I can now see that he's in fact engaged... So my question is this, in te eyes of the court is it possible or probable that I could lose sole custody of my child once it's born to him and his wife? ( at this point she doesn't know of the infidelity or my exhistance) but I'm afraid because I am not college educated and don't have a career. He is a homeowner, and more financially sound and they will be married by the time I deliver. As well as his fiancee has a masters degree but currently is a stay at home mom to their son. I do not drink or use drugs ever I may add.... Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
