Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am pregnat, want to give child up for adoption, but....

I recently found out that i am pregnant with my 3rd child and both myself and my husband agree that we can not afford to keep the baby and are willi g to go through adoption. We live with his monther, and she has treatened us that if we give the baby up or anything else, she will move out, which creates another hardship for us since i am the only one working besides his mother. He will not work, and I have left the home for a couple of days to try and get my mind clearer as to what I feel is the right thing to do. I love my 2 children I have now, but I am only 21 and to be honest, it is extremely overwhelming so much of the time I do not know how I could handle anothe baby.

Your questions are not as much legal as they are personal. You should obtain counseling, first. Then see an attorney. Remember, that it will take the agreement of both you and your husband to give up the baby for adoption. Good planning, personally and legally is important in this decision. Good Luck, Pat McCrary

Do not panic. There are numerous services that will provide you with financial assistance while you are pregnant. There are many, many good people who would love to give your child a loving home. You need to immediately contact a local adoption agency. I highly recommend Bethany Services. Or you can look in your yellow pages under adoption. Good Luck to you.

Mr. McCoy is right, don't panic. There are lots of options available for help. A local church may be able to assist you. I don't know all the circumstances, but your husband needs to help or move out - one less mouth to feed until he decides to be responsible.
