Legal Question in Family Law in California

Prenuptials

What are some compelling reasons to offer to a prospective marriage partner about a prenuptial agreement? I have one drafted by my attorney and I am willing to sign it. My prospective partner on the other hand keeps saying that it is a contract for divorce. I do not see it this way I see it as a protection for both of us. Any suggestions on how to convince her to sign it would be appreciated. I do not think I could marry her without one unfortunately.

It is a simple concept. Either the two of you define your financial responsibilities to each other before you enter into the marital relationship, or the State of California will do it for you.

My advice, take responsibility for defining your own financial partnership with your future spouse and do it thborugh a well thought out pre numtial agreement.

Good luck to you.
