Legal Question in Family Law in California

Previous adoption

I placed a child for open adoption in 1990. In 1996 the parents moved - lost contact with me. I have looked to no avail. I just found out (3 years after the fact) that the adoptive father is in fed prison for a multi million $ internet sex ponzi scam. (fourstarfraud com). I need to know that the baby I gave them is ok. I was at peace before, knowing I did the right thing, now I wonder if I sold my child into a sex ring. I can't live with myself since I found all this out, I need to know she is ok - do I have any rights at all? Thank you for your help. I know this all sounds odd but it is killing me not knowing.

Re: Previous adoption

You could petition the court to open the file to allow you to find the name of the adoptive parents. You could contact the federal agency that prosecuted him and explain your situation. Generally criminal court files are open to the public. Then retain a private investigator to do a search for the mother.
