Legal Question in Family Law in California

pro per

I've been married for 18 years, and have two minor children. I am representing myself in my divorce. There are bank statements my husband put in just his name, assets he is hiding and refusing to provide me with documentation to settle and close the divorce. How do I obtain the maritial documents I have a right to see, but he refuses to provide? If I contact his attorney directly and list the items I need for settlement, isn't my husbands attorney required to have the documents provided to me? If not, how can I obtain the documents I need without spending thousands of dollars in subpoenaing documents?

Thank you
