How to Proceed on Filing for Divorce

dont know where to start on filing divorce papers. we have no property, i have a pension & 401k he has a bank acct. we have 1 child under 18 who lives with me so no issues of custody. We've been separated (not legally) for over 3 yrs now. want nothing from him but some help supporting her. i know neither of us want to go to court. what do you suggest? paralegal or attorney?

Paralegals are good at drafting the documents, but they can only put in the documents what you tell them to put in. They cannot advise you as to how to divide up property.

What you should do is pay an attorney for a consultation to find out how to divide things up, then have a paralegal draft the documents.
