proper way to get served

i was served with a subpoena for court and it was just drop on the ground out in front of my house not knowing what it was i put it back in there car thought they had drop something never say any thing about being served , i went in the house and found it on truck window is there a state code for this procedure

I don't know why you would avoid service. Doing so could cost you in the long run. After a while a judge could order service by publication, which you'll probably never see and the moving party may get a judgment by default.
