Legal Question in Family Law in California

property

Broken up for over one year, my ex-girlfriend is now claiming 'our' matress of which I have had complete possesion of the since we purchased it. She bought it with her credit card and I gave her half in cash. Does she have legal grounds to take me to small claims? And if so would she win?

Re: property

That's truly petty. It's a question of contract, meaning here, what was the deal? Oral deals can be binding if a judge can determine they exist, which is a problem here.

If the deal was you split it, and there aren't any other issues out there, and you kept it, you would owe her 1/2 the current value, which is basically, what would you get at a garage sale? This is not worth anyone's time.

Good thing you're done with her.
