Legal Question in Family Law in California

property lien

My divorce was final in 1989,in the judgement I am entitled to a portion of my x-husbands property. He has not paid the amount to which I am entitled, I would like to know how to go about putting a lien on his property. I have a certified copy of the judgement where do I go from here.

Re: property lien

Assuming you have a set dollar amount, you can file an abstract of judgment with the county recorder. this will put a lien on all real property in that county. You can file it in other counties also. Suggest you retain counsel who specializes in debt collection. Fam law specialist may be able to handle the whole thing. You are probably entitled to 10% interst per annum, as well, and perhaps attorney fees.
