my soon to be x husband and i recvd a puppy bought by his mom to us in feb of this year. my husband decided that our relationship was not going to work and he moved out, the disagreement is in regards to who should get to keep the dog. what are my rights w/o going to court?? do i have any??

You have at least equal rights to possession of the dog. You may want to consider the following option; It may be that if you tell him to come and pick up the puppy he will just let it go. Conduct like this is often nothing more than an attempt to continue control over the other spouse. If you believe that the puppy will be abused then you should consider other options.
