Legal Question in Family Law in California

Property Settlement

My wife and I have been contemplating divorce for a couple of years. In our last discussion regarding division of property, among other things, we agreed verbally that I would keep the houseboat and I would not be liable for certain credit card debt. We later confirmed this agreement in writing via email. 10 months have past and we have moved forward with our divorce. Is our agreement binding?

Re: Property Settlement

You should take a copy of the email agreement to an attorney. After reviewing the email the attorney will have a much better idea whether the agreement is enforceable.
