Legal Question in Family Law in California

propery settlement

my soon to be x-husband purchased a business approx 1 year before we were married, however the loan he got from his parents we were paying 1 year before the marriage and after our marriage. i also worked with him in the business to get it going for approx 6 years. the same was true with our house and we re-financed the house twice, once to put the money into the business and once to remodel the house. he seems to believe because he put a down on business and home before we were married but continued to pay for during the marriage of 16 years (business paid for now, house still paying on) that both business and home are his!?! i don't agree. am i right?

Re: propery settlement

There is too much at stake to get an answer over the internet. After a 16 year marriage with refinancing of the house and building the business, there is almost certainly a community property interest in both. Consult with an attorney to fully review the facts of your case.
