Legal Question in Family Law in California

How do I protect my assets during a divorce?

I'm filing for divorce. My husband has not yet moved out. He has keys to a truck that we bought in my name. How do I protect myself from being liable if he takes the truck without my permission and is in an accident?

You may request property control at an OSC Hearing. You would be well served by obtaining representation. Don't try to go through this by yourself, get the results that you deserve. Please call me directly at (619)222-3504.

You can protect yourself by making sure that there is insurance on the automobile at more than minimum limits. You are only responsible for minimum financial responsibility of 15/30 & 5. Other than that you may want to get an order giving you exclusive possession of the truck. You will probably need an attorney for that. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
