Legal Question in Family Law in California
What do I have to prove to be awarded full custody?
I have true 50-50 joint physical and legal custody of my 12 year old daughter. Week on, Week off. For over 4 years her mother and I have been unable to coparent. We completely disagree on the scope of our child's disability and how to habilitate and educate her. We disagree on where she should live as an adult- she will not be independent. Many decisions are required when raising a severely disabled child. Both parties must agree on all education and medical matters. We don't. If my child was not disabled, the fact that her mother and I disagree on just about everything wouldn't matter so much. With a child like mine, it is disasterous to her aquisition of treatment. What would I have to prove to the court to be awarded full custody?

You might consider having the court appoint a mediator for you two to go to when you can't agree. The mediator would be sort of the "third vote".
