Legal Question in Family Law in California

My question is what is the best way to legalize my step son. He is a Mexican citizens and currently with a legal residence alien card. His mom also my wife she just became a U.S.A citizen, also my wife has sole custody of my step son. Well, if you adopt him, that may resolve the issue. But, I would suggest that you consult with an immigration attorney and not a family law attorney. Good luck!
