Legal Question in Family Law in California

Quit Claim, is it final?

Had a legal separation in 1982. I remained in home we owned to raise 8 year old. Divorce granted in 1988, marital status only, because I wanted to get married. No property issues settled. In 1996 previous wife was asking me for money. I told her I would help if she would give me a quit claim on the property. She said since I had given her so much money over the years, I had raised our child and not asked for any child support from her she would give me a quit claim. She did and the property is in my name only. Now she has gone to court, asking the court to give her the property. Will the quit claim stand up?

It could go either way depending on the facts and the judge. You need an attorney. If you are in the Bay Area, you can call me.

since she is playing dirty you might want to ask for back child support.
