Legal Question in Family Law in California

quitclaim deed when we're separated

My husband and I are living together but legally separted. He's buying another house and wants me to sign a quitclaim deed. I will be living in that house and am raising our son and my stepson. If we got divorced, would it be in my interest to have NOTsigned the deed? I don't want to sign off any rights I may have. Might I still have an interest in the property, even being legally separated? California is a community property state.

Re: quitclaim deed when we're separated

If you are legally separated, that is there is a court judgment of legal separation, you have no community property interest. If the two of are just not living together as husband and wife, you may be able to establish some community property interest.
