You are correct $1500 is not an unusual fee. My practice emphasizes child support and I charge $950 for a child support modification. You should get a caculation of what your child support should be, $100 is not very much of a change and most people I talk to see a much larger change than $100. Also, if there is child care the court will order her to contribute to the child care costs. You should get a consultation with an attorney so that you know what you can expect and then you can make your decisions on whether it would be worth while bringing a motion. Good Luck

You need to show the court how much the child needs on a monthly basis, and how much you and your ex-spouse pay toward that amount each month. If the ex-spouse is paying too little, the court will make the adjustment.

In terms of saving money, you could research the necessary petitions and motions yourself then take them to an attorney to check for you. You can even hire an attorney to appear before the judge for you so you can be sure all your rights are protected as to anything that comes up during the hearing.

You are looking at it wrong. You don't get $100 per

month for just 15 months. You probably get it until

the child is 18 or 19 and still in high school. That

could be a lot of $$$ depending on the child's present

age.
