what reason are there to deny a bifurcation request motion?

It depends on what your are bifurcating. I can't think of any reasons to deny a bifurcation to terminate status and reserve jurisdiction on other issues. But there are other types of bifurcation motions in family law, such as deciding a disputed item of property first.

If the bifurcation is to terminate the marriage, there may be a concern as to health care that may cease at it's current cost. Once divorced, an employer will continue to offer coverage under COBRA but the premiums may skyrocket.
